Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger Celebrates New Partners Seph Petta And Edward Schexnayder
February 23, 2021Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger LLP is proud to announce the addition of two new partners, Joseph “Seph” Petta and Edward Schexnayder. Both attorneys were associates of the firm before joining the partnership.
“Seph and Edward have both made significant contributions to our firm’s work since joining our practice. We are thrilled to add them to our partnership,” said Richard S. Taylor, Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger’s managing partner.
Joseph “Seph” Petta advises municipalities, other public agencies, and community groups in environmental, land use, and public law matters. Mr. Petta’s practice focuses on the California Environmental Quality Act, general plan and zoning law, public lands law, and ordinance and conservation easement drafting and enforcement. His work also includes representing clients in proceedings before state public utility commissions.
Mr. Petta is an alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where he earned a certificate in environmental law. He previously worked at the Apollo Alliance, a “clean energy, good jobs” advocacy group and as a writer and editor for the Rough Guides travel guide series. Mr. Petta joined the firm in 2012.
Edward Schexnayder represents public agencies and non-profit organizations on land use, public law, and environmental matters. His practice focuses on environmental and land use litigation and appeals, and includes advocacy before the California Public Utilities Commission and other regulatory bodies. Mr. Schexnayder also advises public agencies on a variety of regulatory compliance and public finance issues.
Mr. Schexnayder graduated from the University of Michigan Law School with honors. Mr. Schexnayder also holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan. Mr. Schexnayder joined the firm in 2012.
