Laurel L. Impett, AICP
Laurel L. Impett joined Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger in 1989 and is the firm’s senior urban planner. Prior to her tenure at Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger, Ms. Impett was an Environmental Protection Specialist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region IX (San Francisco). Ms. Impett specializes in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and State Planning and Zoning Law.
Ms. Impett’s practice consists primarily of advising community and environmental organizations and public agencies on land use and environmental issues. She has extensive experience representing community and environmental groups through the administrative process, preparation, review and analysis of environmental documents, review and analysis of general plans, retaining consultants, preparation of comment letters for consideration by public officials, and negotiation with land use and transportation agencies. Her work has involved appearances before planning commissions, city councils, and county boards of supervisors. Ms. Impett has lectured on CEQA compliance throughout the state and conducted CEQA training courses for local officials, planners, and environmental organizations.
Ms. Impett is a member of the American Planning Association, the American Institute of Certified Planners, and the Association of Environmental Professionals. Ms. Impett received her M.A in Urban Planning and Architecture at University of California at Los Angeles in 1985.
